Un pilota tedesco mentre si lancia dal suo aeroplano Albatross in fiamme dopo essere stato abbattuto sopra le linee nemiche durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale. Così racconta la foto l’aviatore inglese che l’ha scattata: “l’aereo tedesco ha cominciato una discesa controllata e il pilota del mio aereo ha puntato nella sua direzione per andargli dietro. Quindi l’ho visto andare in fiamme … Il calore deve essere stato terrificante. Il pilota infine si è buttato fuori …”. German pilot jumping from his burning Albatross aeroplane after it was shot down over enemy lines during World War One. Photograph from a series on aerial combat, the majority of the photographs were taken by a British pilot. The pilot recounted the fight that led to this picture: ‘A Hun went down under control and Jock (fellow pilot) nosed after it to get it. Then saw it on fire and followed it down, watching pilot struggle to bring it all the way down. Heat must have been terrific. Noticed pilot trying to jump out…Camera caught him just as he left the burning plane.’
